I enjoyed this short story (very short) and I'm looking forward to reading the other stories in this series (Ugly Stick Saloon). Ella and Jesse's story was very sweet and very sexy. I love Cowboys.
OMG...could this story be more sweet and heart warming. Now don't get me wrong the story is sexy too, but it is one of those stories that give you a warm fuzzy. And without giving away the ending, I was so happy and surprised.
Cannot wait to read about Jesse's brothers story on 11/6/12 when Boots and Bareback comes out.
Boots and LeatherBoots and Chaps Ugly Stick Saloon
Boots and Promises is a short story that falls in between books 2 and 3 of the Ugly Stick Saloon series. Although, I haven't read any of the others in this series I enjoyed the story.
Ella is trying to make her way in NYC as a performer and Jesse is the cowboy who followed her their from Texas. Ella decides NY is not the place for Jesse and despite how much she loves him she's going to push him back to Texas where she thinks he belongs. In the end all is well and they both have a place in NYC that suits them.
I'll admit, I'm not really familiar with this series but I will probably pick up the rest of them... well because I just can't help myself when it comes to hot cowboys who go after what they want.
It was just an awesome feeling after reading Ella and Jesse's sweet and sizzling HEA (happily ever after). I was teary eyed at points in the story because you can feel the strong love they have for each other. Ella doesn't want to tie down Jesse, her cowboy, in the city while she builds her acting career that she worked so long for. She knew Jesse loved Texas and all that being a cowboy is. So she feels she needs to let him go.
This book comes as a short story with a relationship and love already established and makes BOOTS AND PROMISES a perfect quick romance to read this evening!. You'll then want to read all these stories in the Ugly Stick Saloon series and more of Myla Jackson. Go for the Bound and Tied series too that's a sizzling cowboy series in the historical west starting with HONOR BOUND.

"Boots and Promises (Ugly Stick Saloon)" by Myla Jackson is a wonderful erotic short story that gives a heartwarming look at the relationship between a transplanted sexy cowboy and the woman he loves who is trying to establish her Broadway career in New York City, far away from the wide-open spaces of Texas. Although they have no problem communicating in bed, this lusty couple seem to be unable to agree on the course of their relationship but they have to learn to trust in each other.
A delightful short story that combines sensuality, romance and angst. The author has penned a succinct but enjoyable tale as a prequel for her upcoming "Boots and Bareback" novella. This tale demonstrates her facility for creating a spicy hot story that conjures up her entertaining `Ugly Stick Saloon' series even as it delivers a sweet sigh-worthy romance.

Ella can't believe all her dreams are coming true and that her cowboy is there beside her. She is worried about him and feels guilty because he just doesn't seem to be happy in New York. When she stumbles across a little blue box she makes the decision to set him free so he can go back home to his ranch.
Ella loves Jesse more than life itself and it's killing her to see him so unhappy in New York. He followed her there to support her and her dream but he just doesn't seem to be fitting in. She is enjoying her time on the stage but she feels guilty about all the time she has to spend away from him.
Jesse left his home and family to follow Ella to New York and he doesn't regret one minute of it. He doesn't fit in with the New Yorkers but he has a plan to fix that, it's just taking a little longer than he hoped. He wants to be there for Ella but he knows that he needs to have a purpose there too. He is ready to settle down and make a life with her, if he can convince her not to run away.
I loved this short story and can't wait to read the next installment in this series. Ella and Jesse are a sweet couple that love each other to the point that Ella is willing to risk her happiness for his. The ending was fabulous, I loved how Jesse's plan all came together in the end.
Overall this is a fun short story that introduces us to the Obrien boys that fill the pages of the next book in the series Boots and Bareback. I give Boots and Promises 3½ Flaming Hearts.
This series has been really enjoyable. I like how well you get to know the characters. I hope there will be more books coming.
